Childbirth is one of the most amazing human feats possible - but imagine giving nativity to the heaviest babe ever, or eight babies at once!

We've compiled a list from our athenaeum to give you a history of incredible record-breaking childbirths and babies.

  • Heaviest triplets ever - combined weight of x.9 kg (24 lb), born to Mary McDermott (U.k.) on 18 Nov 1914.
  • Heaviest quadruplet birth - combined weight of  x.426kg (22 lb 15.75 oz). Two girls and two boys were born to Tina Saunders (UK) at St Peters Hospital, Chertsey, Surrey on 7 February 1989.

1975 - Most consecutive girl/boy births in a family

This astonishing record was accomplished by the Ewers family unit (USA) in Chicago, Illinois, United states, as verified on 23 February 2018, with 11 consecutive girl/boy births in a family.

  • Most premature twins - Kambry and Keeley Ewoldt (both United states of america), were born on 24 Nov 2018 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City, U.s., at a gestational age of 22 weeks 1 day, or 155 days. This meant they were 125 days premature- the estimated date of delivery for the twins had been 29 March 2019.

2002 - Shortest baby

Nisa Juarez (U.s.) was built-in on 20 July 2002 measuring merely 24 cm (9.44 in) long and weighing but 320 g (11.3 oz).

She was built-in 108 twenty-four hours premature at the Children's Infirmary and Clinic, Minneapolis, Minnesota, The states, and discharged from hospital months afterwards 6 Dec 2002.

Nadya Suleman (USA) claimed headlines across the world on 26 Jan 2009 when she gave nascency to six boys and two girls at the Kaiser Permanente Medical Middle, Bellflower, California, U.s.a..

Cian was born at 10:xl on 28 December 2019. Declan and Rowan were and so born v days later, at 23:11 and 23:14 respectively, on 2 January 2020.

This means the identical-sibling triplets were born in split decades.
